The Yeosu Chapter of the Korean Association of Secondary School Principals announced on the 1st that on the 27th of last month it visited the Department of Visual Arts & Design and the Department of Virtual Reality at Namseoul University in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, and conducted future-oriented education training based on artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR).

The training was organized as a follow-on program to the 122nd Summer In-Service Training, held in Osong from June 25 to 27, and formed part of International Education Conference 2025, which drew about 1,500 secondary-school principals nationwide under the theme “The AI Revolution: Changes in the Educational Landscape.”

The day’s program was led by Associate Professor Robert Dean of Namseoul University and, focusing on how to effectively integrate AI and XR technologies into school settings, combined hands-on content with practical introductions. Drawing on the design and application cases of immersive educational content, Professor Dean explained in concrete terms how these technologies can drive changes in student engagement and immersion.

In collaboration with AI- and XR-based convergence-tech company BestTech, the 3D XR content platform EduSpace was demonstrated. Participating principals experienced the platform firsthand and engaged in in-depth discussions on a wide range of classroom uses, including regular lessons, convergence education, and career-exploration content.

Professor Dean also introduced ODA (Official Development Assistance)–based cases of applying digital education in developing countries, emphasizing that technology can serve as a practical means to advance educational equity and expand learning opportunities rather than remaining merely a cutting-edge tool.

The Yeosu Chapter of the Korean Association of Secondary School Principals assessed that the training affirmed how AI·XR-based education can move beyond simple technology adoption to provide concrete direction for leadership shifts and classroom innovation. The chapter plans to continue practical training programs that connect policy and practice, supporting secondary-school principals to play a leading role at the center of the digital education transition.
