The event, organized by the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, and co-hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Nanchang Municipal People’s Government, and the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), was held under the theme “VR Lights Up the World: VR + AI Shapes the Intelligent Digital Future.” Professor Dean’s keynote, titled “Bridging Academia and Industry: AI + VR as Engines of Human-Centered Growth,” focused on the role of immersive technologies in advancing sustainable and inclusive development. During his presentation, Professor Dean highlighted the joint VR simulation development initiatives between the World Bank Group and Namseoul University for developing nations. He emphasized case studies such as the VR Fisheries Training Simulator developed for the commercial fisheries sector in Saint Lucia, a member state of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and the VR Automotive Mechanics Training Simulator implemented in vocational schools in Ecuador. He also introduced collaborative efforts between Namseoul University and BestTech, a leading Korean XR and AI technology company. Their joint projects are being recognized as global cooperation models linking policy, education, and technology, proving the real-world effectiveness of VR applications in local educational environments and exemplifying human-centered economic growth in practice. In Korea, Namseoul University has signed industry-academia cooperation agreements with BestTech to promote field-oriented immersive education. The two institutions jointly developed the nation’s first VR/AR-based Tile Installation Training Textbook, advancing workforce development through practical, simulation-based learning content.
Building on these global and domestic collaborations, Namseoul University’s Department of Virtual and Augmented Reality continues to strengthen its educational and research capabilities in AI–VR convergence, positioning itself as a global leader in human-centered, technology-integrated education and innovation.
